In January, 8 of our Key Stage 3 students visited The Calvert Trust in the very scenic Lake District.
Over the five days spent at the trust, the students embarked on a programme of activities that completely contrasted their everyday environment and meant that they had a whole host of new experiences including; rock climbing, horse riding, Canoeing, Bush craft and challenge activities.
In addition to the programme of activities each day, our students took on greater responsibilities for themselves at the centre. It was fantastic for the staff joining them to watch the students thrive in their new environment and they could evidently see the development of transferrable skills in confidence, independence, team building and self-help for each and every one of them.
We hadn’t realised just, how many of our young people could become comedians and pretty much laughed the whole week through.
We went, we did, we conquered… and boy did we sleep when we got home!
